Export SketchFab Annotations

Enter the URL of the SketchFab model you want to export annotations from. Annotations will be exported in SketchFab JSON format. For models with many annotations, export may take a moment.

If you are looking for an open academic alternative to SketchFab for hosting 3D models, MorphoSource now supports model annotations. SketchFab format annotations will be automatically converted to a format that can be imported into MorphoSource.

SketchFab Annotation Format

To import annotations into MorphoSource, copy the text below and head to the edit page for the corresponding MorphoSource media. Instructions in the preview tab will guide you through the next step. Please note this process works best for 3D models centered at the origin, since MorphoSource previews are centered by default. To fine tune how annotations are converted, you can use the advanced options below.

MorphoSource Units of Point Coordinates

This should correspond to the units of point coordinates associated with the media on MorphoSource. This will scale SketchFab coordinates to the same units as the MorphoSource media.

Global Additional Scale Modifier

This will scale all data (annotations, camera positions, etc.) by the specified amount. This scale will be applied in addition to or on top of the scaling applied by the units selected above.

Camera Position Scale Modifier

This will scale only annotation camera positions by the specified amount. This scale will be applied in addition to the scaling from fields above.

XYZ Transform

This will transform coordinates by the specified amounts along X, Y, and Z axes respectively. Transforms will be applied after scaling.
